#FeminineArabic

Inclusive language matters. Preferences for male-preferential word order, grammatical/lexical gender usage (like using "he" as a gender-neutral pronoun), or using "man" to refer to humankind (lexical items) may seem pretty harmless. Simply having particular structures in language doesn't - as far as we have reason to believe - cause sexist thoughts. However, gender biases in language can reinforce pre-existing gender perceptions and prejudices when enacted in discourse.

#FeminineArabic is a new language setting that allows Twitter users to address Arabic-speaking women in the feminine form for the first time. Well-deserved recognition for all the past and present employees that made it happen.

Small nuances in language do affect the overall construct asserting male as default.
